Kelsey O’Connor is a keynote speaker, mental performance consultant, and founder of Life Beyond Labels. A former Division I athlete at NC State, her work centers on identity, resilience, and redefining success beyond performance and external labels.
After a serious head injury ended her athletic career, Kelsey faced months of cognitive challenges, persistent pain, and the uncertainty of an invisible injury. That experience reshaped how she understood achievement, identity, and leadership, and became the foundation for her Life Beyond Labels framework. During her recovery, she committed to a mindset shift that changed the way she saw others and herself. In 2023, she delivered a commencement address at NC State that went viral, reaching over 70 million views across 27+ countries. The response from audiences around the world reinforced the relevance of her message: who we are drives what we produce in the world.
Kelsey holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and is actively pursuing her Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) credential. Her research has been published in two international mental health journals. She has delivered keynote presentations and workshops for corporations, leadership conferences, schools, athletic programs, and nonprofits, and has served on panels alongside Hall of Fame MLB and NFL athletes, executives, and organizational leaders.
Through evidence-based strategies from performance psychology and social work, combined with lived experience, Kelsey equips audiences to navigate change, build resilient cultures, and lead beyond labels.
