Overcoming obstacles has been something David has done his whole life. Born with an orthopedic issue, he had leg braces and corrective shoes as a young child, getting his first pair of tennis/athletic shoes in 5th grade. David went on to excel in Track and went to college on a track scholarship, running cross country and the steeplechase. After a career in finance/accounting, he became a pastor. At the age of 49, he lost his 33yr battle with glaucoma and is now legally/functionally blind. David had to teach himself a new way to see. Now he helps others learn a new way to see through everyday challenges. He is a “Blind Visionary”. He would rather be called “blind” than “low vision”. Blind means he can’t see, but that does not keep him from having vision.
David not only challenges people to “Do Hard Things” and “Don’t Give Up,” but he also embodies these principles in his own life. Overcoming numerous obstacles, including his blindness, David just finished a marathon. This was his second marathon, but notably, his first since becoming blind. Be inspired by this incredible journey. We may stumble and fall on our journey, but we get back up, we keep going, we persevere, we overcome.
David is a jack of all trades these days. He pastors a small church in Kerrville, TX, teaches High School classes at his local homeschool co-op, and is a Financial Coach for both individuals and small businesses. He is also a board member of Guide Dogs of Texas and has a guide dog named Price. He is also a husband and father of 3 children. But he will find time to come speak at your next event, meeting, or conference, so book an engagement today!
