About Nelson Aluya

Dr. Nelson O. Aluya M.D. (M.B. B.S.) Dr Nelson Aluya is a distinguished U.S.-based internist and pediatrician with a career spanning over 25 years. He is the President of Lennox Medical Group New Jersey and the immediate past Chief Medical Officer at Newark Community Health Centers, Inc. Dr. Aluya has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, expertise, leadership, and advocacy in the medical and social justice fields. He has been a guest speaker at numerous local and international academic workshops, conferences, and seminars. The recipient of multiple regional and global humanitarian and peer reviews and awards, including Nominations for the Golden Apple Award Excellence in Teaching at the New Jersey medical school, Rutgers University. He is a recipient of the Ambassador for Peace award by the Universal Peace Federation. He is also a contributor to local and international peer review articles. He is listed in the prestigious Marquis Who’s is Who in America, Biographica Listee in 2023-2024. Recognized globally for their humanitarian efforts, Dr. Aluya received the Distinguished Humanitarian Award from Paramount Care Centers in 2022, . He has led numerous local and international medical missions in Africa, South America, and the Caribbean, providing essential care to underserved communities and migrant families. In 2009, Dr. Aluya took on the role of Medical Director at Sinai Post-Acute Nursing & Rehab Center, overseeing the medical needs of a 400-bed subacute and long-term care facility. Their commitment to public health continued as they became Medical Officers at Caduceus—Center for Disease Control and Prevention in 2015. In this position, Dr. Aluya conducted tertiary screenings for individuals traveling to designated Ebola risk zones, collaborated with CDC Atlanta for Ebola consultancy, and liaised with State health departments to assess and manage travelers from Ebola-infected countries. Dr. Aluya is the immediate past president of the New Jersey Medical Association (NJMA), the former Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA), and the Vice President of Impact Life International, a non-governmental Organization with global outreach. He received ” Four Directions’ 2024 MLK Leadership Award and the Black History Champions Award from the Township of Hillside, New Jersey. A citation from Mr. Eric Adams, the Mayor of New York City, in 2021, while he was the Brooklyn Borough president in New York. Recognition by the Mayor’s Office of the City of Orange, New Jersey, and a New Jersey State Assembly Citation by Assemblywoman Britnee Timberlake. He is a Member of numerous advisory boards, including the Advisory Board to His Excellency Ambassador Sadiqi Wai, Sierra Leonean, Ambassador to the United States of America, He is the current National President of the Nigerian American Public Affairs Committee (NAPAC); Dr. Aluya has tirelessly engaged, educated, mentored, and advocated for all those of African descent in general and Nigerians in particular, both in the U.S. and their homeland. His multifaceted career showcases medical expertise and a passion for humanitarian causes, public health, and leadership. His impactful contributions resonate globally, making him a respected figure in the medical and African diaspora communities globally.
