Dennis Forbus is a seasoned minister, author, coach, and transformational leader whose 40-plus-year career spans ministry, mental health, law enforcement, social work, business ownership, and nonprofit leadership. A licensed and ordained Baptist minister since 1980, Dennis has served as Pastor, Youth Pastor, missionary, and national gospel music evangelist, traveling the United States preaching and singing professionally.
A 2013 graduate of Liberty University with a B.S. in Psychology, Christian Counseling, and Criminal Justice, Dennis has since become a thirteen-time published author and a prolific creator of personal growth, leadership, and mental health programs. He has earned an extensive list of professional certifications, including Mental Health Coaching, Trauma-Informed Parenting, Life Coaching, Military and First Responder Mental Health, Human Flourishing, Marriage and Family Care, Equine Therapy, and multiple substance-abuse and therapeutic-care credentials. His training equips him to support individuals, families, leaders, and organizations with depth, compassion, and evidence-based wisdom.
Dennis has founded three nonprofit organizations, including Frontline Resilience Partners, and created numerous signature programs such as Restoring Responders Resilience, Ur Mindset Matters, the Talent Acquisition Playbook, Empowering Your In-Power, Reclaim and Rise, and workplace and relationship frameworks tied to his bestselling books. He is also the owner of DenKar Coaching & Consulting Partners, where he brings together decades of ministry, psychology, leadership, and lived experience to help people thrive.
Before his coaching and ministry career expanded, Dennis built a dynamic professional résumé that includes law enforcement work, social services roles, leadership in Drug Court programs, and over four decades as a business owner. He has led large-scale retail operations as a supervisor of 58 jewelry stores with millions in inventory and 279 employees, and he built a credit and collection company from scratch to a valuation of $1.8 million in just three years. His experience also extends to directing youth programs, founding after-school and summer initiatives, and serving as Director of the East Central Alabama Boys & Girls Club.
Dennis retired at age 55—but after rediscovering his calling, he chose to return to the stage and the classroom to share the message he believes the world needs now more than ever. Today, he speaks, coaches, writes, and supports families, first responders, leaders, and everyday people seeking healing, growth, and resilience.
Married to Karen for 24 years, Dennis is the proud father of four adult children and seven beloved grandchildren. A foster parent to four—two of whom he and Karen adopted—Dennis considers his greatest title to be Gran-D, the name lovingly given to him by his grandkids.
That Dennis feels like God placed him on this earth to make folks laugh. So when you hire him for a speaking engagement, he delivers life experiences, social & coping skills, problem solving, generational diversity, and leadership & team building; and much more, by using humor along the way, which keeps folks laughing, and listening; which in turn also includes learning.
