Master Sergeant Cedric King entered the United States Army in 1995. During his 20-year career, Master Sergeant King proved himself to be an exemplary soldier, graduating from several distinguished schools in the Army, including but not limited to: the United States Army Jumpmaster Course, United States Army Pathfinder course, Air Assault course, and the United States Army Ranger Course. He is the recipient of the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and is an awardee of the Order of Saint Maurice, the Patron Saint of the Infantry.
On July 25, 2012, during his second tour in Afghanistan, Cedric was severely injured by an Improvised Explosive Device. The explosion caused internal injuries, permanent damage to his right arm and hand, and the amputation of both of his legs. Cedric now refers to that moment as his finest hour.
While recovering from his injuries Cedric found time to complete his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and began to cultivate his speaking voice. Cedric saw all of his adversities and trials as a classroom to learn from and study in and to one day teach others how to overcome their challenges and fears. Cedric has shared his story of perseverance and endurance with audiences all over the world! He has trained and taught audiences ranging from the US Naval Academy, the United States Military Academy at West Point, to professional sports franchises of the NFL, NBA, and MLB. Fortune 500 companies such as Bank of America, Home Depot, Under Armor, Google Meta, and countless more. In February 2019 his story was published in print when he released his book called, “The Making Point ”. In his book he shares mindsets, philosophies, and stories that include how 21 months after losing both of his legs, Cedric completed the 2014 Boston Marathon. In late 2020 his story even caught the eye of Hollywood producers and is now on its way to the big screen in a story called “Endurance”. He has been featured on Networks such as CBS, NBC, ABC, HBO, and the NFL Network. He has gone on to compete in some of the world’s toughest endurance events including the Marine Corps Ultra Marathon 50k challenge, and several 70.3 mile half Ironman Triathlons. He is a 3 time New York City marathon finisher, a four time Chicago Marathon Finisher, a 11 time Boston Marathon finisher, countless half marathons, and a three-time 48.6-mile Disney Marathon series finisher. In Sept of this year Cedric completed the Berlin Marathon which made him 1 of only 2 amputee athletes in the world who have completed all 6 of the major marathons on earth. Currently, Cedric is training to complete his first 100 mile road race on running blade prosthetics in Nov of 2026.
Cedric has been married to his lovely wife, Khieda King, since October of 2000 and they have two beautiful daughters, Amari and Khayma King.
