Born into chaos, Ryan Stream’s life began in a drug house marked by abuse, trauma, his parents’ separation, and later, his mother’s suicide.
He slept in a homeless shelter, watched his family be torn apart through the foster care system, battled addiction, and was arrested 12 times, even after being adopted by his schoolteacher and a police officer who later became a judge.
In junior high, Ryan nearly lost his leg to amputation after a serious sports injury. Instead of quitting, he defied the odds. He broke track records, became homecoming king, and later graduated as an honor graduate in the military. At a separate point later in life, after making poor choices, he faced addiction once again before making the decision to turn his life around.
Ryan served two combat tours in Afghanistan, where 23 of the 32 soldiers in his platoon were wounded and one in his Unit was killed.
When he returned home, the battle continued. He faced PTSD, physical injuries, hearing loss, failed college four times, lost his job, almost lost the family he built with his wife, and had A plan to take his own life he acted on, but he refused to stay down.
Today, Ryan is a retired Army Sergeant veteran with two combat tours in Afghanistan, a law enforcement officer working in Corrections, the owner of three businesses, a TEDx speaker, a bestselling author, and an award-winning musician.
He has been featured in Forbes, seen on MTV, and honored with the Verizon Wireless Award for the USA. He holds degrees in Psychology and Family Science, along with a master’s degree in Leadership and Management.
Ryan has helped raise over 1.8 million dollars in student scholarships, was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success, and continues building businesses even after crushing his hand in a coal mine accident, losing a finger, and surviving a semi truck crash that left him believing he was paralyzed.
That same year, Ryan climbed mountains, ran a marathon, completed a 100-mile bike race, and continues to prove every day the power of resilience.
