About Marc Heyison

As a former professional baseball player with the Baltimore Orioles, author, and founding director of three non-profit organizations, including the first and only national non-profit designed to educate and empower men to be effective caregivers when cancer strikes, Marc brings a unique and engaging nature to diverse audiences nationwide.

As an author, Marc wrote a caregiving book for male caregivers, “It’s Not Rocket Science: A Guy’s Blueprint to Caregiving.” He also collaborated on “For The Women We Love, A Breast Cancer Action Plan and Caregiver’s Guide For Men,” the first guidebook of its kind for men. In addition, Marc helped author the book, “Frankly
Speaking When Someone You Care About Has Breast Cancer” on behalf of The Wellness Community.

These experiences in combination with his determination, passion, and work ethic helped propel Marc to become a nationally recognized expert in the caregiving space for men — a much-needed, yet still unmet need – and a sought-after keynote speaker and workshop facilitator for the innovative Partners in Survival Program, a proven problem solving model helping men be there for the women they love through effective communication.

When coaching high school baseball athletes, Marc uniquely combines mental focus and preparation with one’s actions, choices, and accountability as the driving message. Marc has also taught high school students sharing his message of resilience and responsibility to them as well as shared his message with educators. Marc has received numerous awards for his commitment to helping others and for delivering a dynamic, powerful message while connecting with all audiences on the importance of ‘being there’ and making a difference.

Marc is a graduate from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. In 1996, Marc was elected to The George Washington University Athletic Hall of Fame, and in 1999 he was elected to the Greater Washington, D.C. Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. Marc lives in Maryland with his wife and daughter.
