Ohio Hall of Fame football coach Lee Owens is a motivational speaker and team culture coach. Coach Owens is a leader and a winner. He has built winning teams and won championships everywhere he has coached.
In 2016, Coach Owens served as President of the American Football Coaches.
In 2023, Lee retired from coaching after winning his sixteenth football championship. During his career, he took over struggling football programs at six different schools and led them to championship seasons. His football coaching stops included the legendary Massillon Washington High School and Big Ten powerhouse The Ohio State University.
His resume also includes coaching NFL Hall of Fame players Jason Taylor and Orlando Pace. Owens was recognized seventeen times as Coach of the Year.
In addition, he was selected as the Ohio High School Coach of the Year in 1985 and the Ohio College Coach of the Year in 2012.

Coaches Playbook LLC was started by Lee Owens in 2023. Coaches Playbook is dedicated to advancing team excellence. Owens has developed effective strategies to turn struggling units into successful teams. Owens recently released his book, “The Spirit of a Team: Successful CEO’s and Coaches Share Their Strategies for Achieving Excellence.”
In 1997, as the Head Football Coach at the University of Akron, Lee wrote the book, “Blood, Sweat, and Championship: A Team Guide to Winning.” Following the blueprint outlined in that book, Coach Owens led Akron to its first football championship in 100 years during the 200 season.
Lee and his wife Dianne have four married children and twelve grandchildren.
