Andrew Roblyer is a leadership architect, director, and educator who operates at the collision of high-stakes human performance and creative rigor. With over 20 years of experience, Andrew treats leadership not as a mystical talent, but as a teachable, scalable craft.
Andrew’s leadership is forged in the fires of both the stage and the hospital. Before earning his MFA, he built a distinct career in medical education, founding the Clinical Simulation program at the University of Houston College of Medicine and directing Experiential Learning at UTMB. This background gives him an unconventional perspective on organizational health: he views artistic execution with the same analytical precision required in clinical training. As a serial entrepreneur and founder of the speculative-fiction company The Octarine Accord, he understands the mechanics of building teams, securing grants, and scaling creative visions from concept to opening night. Andrew is also the founder of the open-access education project Deconstructing Directing and the Upstream Director’s Studio, platforms dedicated to empowering the independent and educational theatre spaces that form the theatre industry’s vital source.
At the center of his consultancy and mentorship is the ethos of Reckless Kindness, a leadership framework that rejects the “volatile genius” trope in favor of radical transparency, narrative reframing, and identity reconstruction. He teaches leaders how to dismantle toxic industry standards and rebuild them with high regard for both the process and the human being. Regardless of the context, Andrew’s goal is consistent: to equip the next generation of creative leaders with the rigorous, compassionate tools necessary to thrive in complex, high-pressure environments.
