About Camilo Gomez

Camilo R. Gomez has dedicated more than 45 years to medicine, achieving board certifications in vascular neurology, neurocritical care, and interventional neurology. Throughout his distinguished career, he has been at the forefront of clinical innovation and patient care, significantly advancing neurovascular interventions and pioneering some of the most successful and innovative approaches to stroke treatment, both conceptual and operative.

Currently, he practices full-time at the University of Missouri Medical Center, as one of two core vascular and interventional neurologists of the DNV-accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center. In addition, Dr. Gomez is an accomplished medical educator with prior and current faculty appointments at four American medical schools: Saint Louis University School of Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, and the University of Missouri School of Medicine.

Across these institutions, he has mentored generations of physicians and helped shape the next era of neurological specialists, leaving a legacy of specialists who continue to follow in his footsteps. He is a passionate communicator, skillful lecturer, and sought-after speaker who has captivated audiences worldwide with engaging presentations and thought-provoking insights. His conferences challenge listeners to think “out of the box” rather than conform to the status quo, reflecting his work’s irreverent and unconventional style.

This approach is also evident in his publications, including those introducing novel clinical concepts and unique perspectives about different dimensions of everyday life. He has authored 10 books, including some under various pen names, and over 300 original scientific publications and presentations. In addition to his clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Gomez holds a business degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business, and is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

His credentials underscore his proficiency in evaluating clinical systems operations. His leadership has steered teams to achieve significant and measurable successes in process enhancements, earning recognition from prominent medical organizations. His risk management consulting skills further his expertise in designing and completing quality improvement projects. Such a combination of medicine and business knowledge has made him a valued consultant to diverse medical and legal organizations. Dr. Gomez is the President and CEO of CK Strategic Solutions Group, a consulting and publishing company focused on advancing clinical excellence, leadership development, and operational innovation within the healthcare industry. Upon witnessing how the landscape of medical practice and education has changed over the years, he has most recently introduced negotiating concepts borrowed from law enforcement and business to enhance physicians’ ability to effectively influence patients, families, peers, students, and administrators.

This refocusing is now incorporated into his never-ending search for improving all outcomes, optimizing the health of patients and physicians’ well-being, and reducing the pervasive and insidious growth of professional burnout, with all its negative consequences. As a consultant and speaker, he can help organizations identify the root causes of problems in clinical operations, craft practical solutions, implement necessary modifications, and ultimately improve their overall performance. In parallel, he can assist them in developing strategies to systematically negotiate issues related to conflict resolution while promoting culture optimization.
