Chong Kim is a filmmaker, author, speaker, and survivor-advocate whose work centers on social-impact storytelling and survivor-led narratives. As the founder of Velvet Brick Enterprise and creator of the Every 40 Seconds (E40S) film universe, she uses cinema, education, and immersive media to expose systemic failures surrounding human trafficking, violence, and marginalized communities. Her award-winning short film E40S has received international recognition, and her creative projects span feature films, documentaries, written memoirs, music, and emerging VR/RPG concepts—all rooted in lived experience and truth-driven storytelling.
Beyond filmmaking, Chong is a public speaker, consultant, and educator focused on personal safety, trauma-informed awareness, and survivor empowerment. Her autobiography Broken Silence and her personal safety course Think Like a Predator are extensions of her mission to turn survival into strategy and advocacy into action. Through Velvet Brick, she is building a multi-platform studio dedicated to employing survivors, uplifting underrepresented voices, and creating socially responsible intellectual property that educates, challenges, and drives real-world impact.
