Douglas J. Corbin is the former Senior Vice President, Chief Development Officer at CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County). He accepted this position in February of 2018 and in his 5+ years at the helm, the Foundation surpassed it’s total fundraising goal by 16.9% (FY18-FY22) raising over $254M over that period. Mr. Corbin has been recognized by the Orange County Business Journal in their 2020, 2021 and 2022 “OC 500 Directory of Influence” as one of the top 500 influencers in Orange County.
Mr. Corbin has 35 years of experience in the field of Development and Gift Planning, notably serving as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Estate and Gift Planning at Pepperdine University from 1996-2002 before forming Paragon Charitable Services Group, a gift planning consulting firm, in 2003. Over the years, Mr. Corbin has served as gift planning counsel to such notable charitable organizations as The Motion Picture & Television Fund; The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation; The Los Angeles Urban League; The California Science Center; The California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation; The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels; The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra; The Aquarium of the Pacific and Children’s Hospital of Orange County where he facilitated the largest gift from a living donor in the history of the organization – a $27,000,000 bequest.
Mr. Corbin is a native southern Californian attending Pepperdine University on a baseball scholarship and playing on the 1974 WCC Championship Team that was ranked 7th in the nation. Upon graduating Pepperdine with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology, he taught physical education and science at John Adams Junior High School located in the inner city of Los Angeles. Following his experience as a teacher, Mr. Corbin spent 10 years in the music business working for Mike Curb Productions, Warner Brothers and MCA before establishing his career in the nonprofit sector.
His post-graduate work includes a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG) designation from the American Institute of Philanthropic Studies at Cal State Long Beach (1995); and a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification from CFRE International (2015).
Currently, Mr. Corbin is the Founder and CEO of the Omada Foundation for Children, a California nonprofit organization focusing on pediatric mental health and continues to provide strategic consulting services to nonprofit organizations throughout southern California. As a volunteer, Doug is Founder and Past-President of Ryan’s Reach – The Ryan Corbin Foundation for Brain Injury, and is an active donor to a number of worthy charitable organizations.
Mr. Corbin lives in Coto de Caza, California and is married with three children – Ryan, Jessica and Alyssa.
