Dr. Chris Whaley was a professional wrestler for ten years (1978-88). He wrestled some of the biggest names in the business. He wrestled four World Champions, including The Undertaker. He left professional wrestling at the height of his career to follow his calling as a pastor.
He graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
When he went to his first church, he began handling some people more as a professional wrestler than as a Baptist minister. He became a Christian vigilante. He was the Equalizer before Denzel and Queen Latifah.
He wrote a book about his transition from pro wrestling to ministry entitled The Masked Saint. The book was made into an award-winning feature-length film that won Best Picture at the 2015 International Christian Film Festival. He has since authored two other books, Harold’s Heavenly Christmas and Mr. President?
He has pastored three churches. He served on staff at First Baptist Church of Orlando until 2023. He has been married to his high school sweetheart for 50 years. He has two married daughters and six grandchildren.
