Ethel R. Maharg is a passionate leader, accomplished speaker, and unwavering advocate for life, faith, and community. A former three-term Mayor of the Village of Cuba, New Mexico, she served for ten years, leading her community to an almost two-million-dollar surplus and launching economic initiatives that continue to create jobs decades later.
A graduate of the University of Phoenix with a degree in Business Administration, Ethel’s professional experience spans business, education, banking, and ministry. She is the coauthor of The Unstoppable Woman’s Guide to Emotional Well-Being and The Unstoppable Entrepreneur, and a sought-after keynote speaker for pregnancy centers, faith-based organizations, and civic events across New Mexico.
Ethel’s heart for service is evident in her leadership roles, including Client Services Director for Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque—where she oversaw four centers, a mobile medical unit, and 300 volunteers—and Executive Director for the Right to Life Committee of New Mexico, which she led for five years. She also served as City Director for Love Life Ministries, uniting and mobilizing churches to end abortion in their communities.
In 2018, she coordinated Convoy of Hope – Albuquerque, organizing 1,700 volunteers to serve thousands of people in need. That same year, she partnered with the Hispanic Action Network to distribute 350,000 voter guides statewide, mobilizing citizens to engage in the democratic process. In 2021, she ran for Governor of New Mexico under the inspiring message, “Breathing LIFE into New Mexico.”
Ethel has also hosted programs on TBN and produced a television series for the Right to Life Committee of New Mexico. Married to her husband Dean for 41 years, she is the proud mother of three and grandmother of six—her greatest joy is being “Nonni.”
