Gustavo Rodea arrived in America at 17 with no English, no connections, and no safety net — only the immigrant belief that outworking every obstacle was the only plan he needed.
By 22, he opened his first furniture store in rural North Carolina. When the 2008 recession shut it down, he didn’t quit — he rebuilt, eventually growing it into multiple locations.

Gustavo’s philosophy in life is that you can have everything in life if you help others get what they want.
Today, he is the founder of ILM Investors, a real estate company with 50+ properties across eastern North Carolina. He’s also the author of Immigrant Investor (coming soon), a marathon finisher, and a recipient of awards including the Latino Diamante Award and Wilmington Biz 100.
