John H. Ramsey has been a senior business executive and management consultant for more than forty years. He currently serves as a Senior Fellow at Reason Foundation.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Ramsey was a founding shareholder of a global management consulting firm designed to combine the strengths of independent local profit centers with the worldwide resources of a multinational organization. He served as the firm’s first Chairman and helped guide its expansion to approximately 100 consultants across 34 U.S. offices and 21 international locations. More than 35 years later, the firm remains active on six continents.
In addition, Mr. Ramsey has served as an adjunct management consultant with two large Florida community foundations, providing consulting services to numerous nonprofit organizations throughout the state. He also worked as a consultant and part-time Chief Financial Officer for a nonprofit scientific research institute.

In these capacities, Mr. Ramsey developed and implemented strategic and operational plans, raised $60 million in public and private capital, and led the acquisition or startup of six companies.
Mr. Ramsey also served as an officer in the United States Air Force, where he worked for three years as a project manager on a major defense system acquisition. He directed a significant analysis of return on investment and progress payments for the Defense Department’s Industry Advisory Council. Nominated for the rank of Major in 1971, he is a Vietnam veteran whose honors include the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Tufts University, graduating as a Dean’s List student and member of two honorary societies. He received his MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School. Mr. Ramsey was selected for the Leadership Cleveland program in 1981 and is currently a member of the Leadership Sarasota Alumni. Mr. Ramsey is married to Jo-Anne Sheldon and has three children, two stepchildren, and four grandchildren.
