KEVIN SHINICK has spent his career crafting, correcting and cultivating some of Hollywood’s biggest franchises. And now he wants to help YOU do the same with your LIFE and your BRAND! (The one you didn’t even know you had.)
Beginning his career as the host and Squadron Leader of the popular PBS series, Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego?, Kevin has gone on to become an Emmy Award-winning writer, a #1 bestselling author and a celebrated comic book creator, as well as an actor, director and multiple Annie Award-winning producer. This spring, Kevin returns to his hosting roots portraying legendary American Bandstand host DICK CLARK in the upcoming Michael Jackson movie, Michael.
Along the way, Kevin realized that the tools he uses to fix Hollywood’s problems are the SAME tools he uses to help himself, his friends, his family and colleagues fix THEIR lives and career problems as well. That’s when he created the HOLLYWOOD TRAILER TECHNIQUE. A way of plotting and doctoring your LIFE’s (or COMPANY’S) narrative like a MOVIE TRAILER so that you can SEE the big picture and CRAFT your own journey as an active participant rather than just a passive seat-filler in the Cinema of Self-Projection.
Best known for his work as a writer, producer and voice-actor on Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken and for penning the best-selling novel Star Wars: Force Collector, Shinick has earned a veritable pop culture pedigree by working alongside George Lucas (Star Wars: Detours), directing Stan Lee (Marvel’s animated Spider-Man), collaborating with the rock band KISS (Scooby-Doo and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery), helping Mike Tyson solve some mysteries (The Mike Tyson Mysteries) and turning MAD Magazine into the Emmy nominated animated series known simply as MAD. Calling upon that experience, Kevin uses ALL that he has learned collaborating with legends to help students, CEO’s, artists and entrepreneurs reach their own goals and objectives.
A fan-favorite among comic book readers, Shinick has written for both Marvel and DC Comics, contributing stories to runs on Batman, Avenging Spider-Man, The Flash, Guardians of the Galaxy and Superior Spider-Man Team-Up while also creating new personas for W.E.B. of Spider-Man, Superior Carnage and AXIS: Hobgoblin. Additionally, Shinick has the distinction of being the only person to have written Spider-Man for the comics (Avenging Spider-Man) the stage (Spider-Man Live! at Radio City Music Hall) and the screen (The Emmy-nominated animated series: Marvel’s Spider-Man on Disney +.) But Kevin’s years of creating heroes on the page made him question why we always tend to give the power, the brains and the insight to fictional characters rather than ourselves.
Fans of animation will also recognize Shinick as the voice of Bruce Banner (the Incredible Hulk’s brainy alter ego) across Marvel’s animated universe, as well as voices on Comedy Central’s Trip Tank, Fox’s The Cleveland Show, Cartoon Network’s Justice League Action, Crackle’s SuperMansion, Comedy Central’s Ugly Americans, NBC’s Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas and the CW’s Beebo Saves Christmas. Now, however, Kevin focuses on helping people find their OWN voice in a world where it’s easy to get drowned out or replaced.
As an actor, Shinick has performed in over half a dozen Broadway plays, plus numerous films and television shows, including Masters of Sex, Grimm, Major Crimes, Rizzoli and Isles, Sour Grapes, Trust Me, Without A Trace and, as previously mentioned, the host and “Squadron Leader” of the PBS series, Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego? – a popular 90s sci-fi quiz show that landed him in the pages of Teen magazines, onto trading cards and into his own action figure. But one of his most gratifying roles is that of a mentor and coach speaking to colleges, corporations and special interest groups to help them reach their full potential.
