I am a family man, a veteran and a coach. In 2019, after left a well-paid career as an established accounting professional. working for Fortune corporations and accounting firms, to follow my dream to become a full-time entrepreneur.
Truthfully, I didn’t know what I was going to do when I had the initial conversation with my boss. All I knew was my gut said leave. The inner voice got louder and louder until one day, after many restless nights, internal turmoil I heard it very clearly. Resign now!
Yes, I had already started a non-profit. Yes, I’ve had other successful entrepreneurial ventures in the past. Yes, I was lacking passion in my day job, but I had a family whom I would have to convince that my urges weren’t gas.
Throughout my life, I had great opportunities from my first job as a mechanic, serving in the US Navy during Desert Storm/Desert Shield, my roles in the finance industry at some great companies, and what caused the most strain was the lack of good leadership. Note, I said lack of good leadership, and not no good leadership. I actually believe that I had the opportunity to work with some of the best leaders ever! What made them great is they knew who they were and helped to develop me.
One day, out of the blue, it hit me! Yes, I had my aha moment!
The principle is simple. Relationship helps you to grow.
