Michael Chase is a School Resource Officer, author, nationally sought-after speaker, and Boston Marathon bombing survivor whose work centers on crisis prevention, trauma-informed leadership, and the power of trusted adult relationships. Standing less than fifteen feet from the second explosion at the 2013 Boston Marathon finish line, Michael was thrust into a moment that forever reshaped his understanding of leadership under pressure, human connection, and the impact of decisive action in moments of crisis. That lived experience, combined with his professional work in schools, gives Michael a rare and credible perspective on preparation, response, and recovery.
Currently serving as a School Resource Officer at Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School, Michael works daily with students, educators, administrators, and families to strengthen school culture, improve safety, and ensure young people have trusted adults they feel comfortable turning to before problems escalate. His approach focuses on prevention rather than reaction, helping schools identify warning signs, build reporting cultures, and support both students and staff before, during, and after critical incidents. Michael is also the founder of T/A Connect – The Trusted Adult Initiative, a school-based framework designed to improve student connection, reduce isolation, and enhance campus safety.
Michael’s presentations are grounded, practical, and deeply human. He speaks to school districts, leadership teams, and organizations about crisis preparedness, trauma recovery, resilience, and the responsibilities that come with caring for people during their most vulnerable moments. Audiences consistently describe his work as authentic, actionable, and impactful, leaving with a clearer understanding of how relationships, awareness, and leadership decisions can save lives and change outcomes long before a crisis ever occurs.
