I was born and raised in Waukegan, Illinois. I am the fourth of six children. My father was a factory worker, the son of immigrants. Sadly, he died at the age of 41 from mesothelioma. I was 15.
My mother remarried when I was 17 to a man with whom I did not get along. I paid my own way through college, earning a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois.
I met my first husband shortly after I graduated. He was an Air Force veteran. He had been married twice before. He had custody of his three children when I met him.
I worked for Illinois Bell until I had my first child in 1980. I had my second daughter in 1983. With the support of my husband, I went to graduate school. I earned a PhD in psychology in 1994.
I had several different jobs after graduating from Corrections to nursing homes to private practice. I took an active role in church through the years. My faith has grown, but still needs work.
My speeches will reflect my love of the Lord with my love of music. I have had 10 years of formal vocal training. My goal is to help people draw closer to God, knowing that He is always with them.
