What is SalemSpeakers 3.0?

A premier professional directory connecting event planners with world-class speakers through streamlined profiles and advanced search discovery.

How will I find out about new speaking opportunities?

Salem Speakers sends confirmed speaking opportunities via email every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Each email includes a unique application link for each gig. Make sure your email is up to date in your profile so you never miss an opportunity.

Are speaking events in-person or virtual?

Unless an opportunity is explicitly labeled "Virtual" in the event details, all Salem Speakers gigs are in-person presentations. Travel and lodging details are handled separately with the event planner.

Is Salem Speakers exclusive? Can I list with other bureaus?

Salem Speakers is completely non-exclusive. You are free to list yourself with other bureaus, book your own events, and pursue any opportunities independently. Anything you book on your own is 100% yours. Anything Salem Speakers books for you is handled through our bureau process.

How quickly should I apply for a speaking gig?

Apply within 48 hours of receiving the opportunity email. Speed matters — Salem Speakers presents a shortlist to event planners quickly, and early applicants are more likely to be considered. The speaking industry moves fast.

How do I apply for a speaking opportunity?

Click the unique application link inside the opportunity email. That link takes you directly to the gig application form. Do not reply to the email — all applications must go through the designated link so our team can properly review and present you to the event host.

What is the most important part of my speaker application?

The most critical section is "Why are you the best fit for this gig?" This is your direct written pitch to the event planner. Write a short, tailored answer that speaks to that specific event's needs — your relevant experience, perspective, and results. Generic pitches are far less effective than a focused, specific response.

Can I attach videos, PDFs, or extra materials to my application?

No. Salem Speakers only accepts the written pitch in the application to keep things efficient for event planners. Your speaker reel and media should live on your speaker profile page — Salem Speakers sends that page to the planner automatically if you are shortlisted.

What happens after I submit my speaker application?

You will receive a confirmation email immediately. Salem Speakers then personally presents your pitch to the event planner. We handle the introduction — our job is to open the door and put you in the best position to be seen.

How will I know if I was selected for a speaking gig?

If the event planner is interested, a member of their team will contact you directly to discuss next steps. Communication comes straight from the event planner's side once we've made the introduction.

What if I don't hear back after applying for a gig?

Not hearing back is common in the speaking industry. Event planners typically only contact the speaker they have chosen. If you don't hear back, it means they went in a different direction for that event. Stay positive and keep applying to opportunities that are a strong fit for your expertise.

What is the Salem Speakers commission structure?

This is one of the most powerful benefits of being a Salem Speaker Bureau member: We take 0% commission on any speaking gig you book through our platform. You keep 100% of the speaking fee, every single time. There are no hidden fees, no percentages, and no back-end commissions. Traditional bureaus can take anywhere from 20-35% of your hard-earned speaking fee. We believe that money belongs in your pocket. Your monthly subscription is the only fee you will ever pay, allowing you to build your speaking business with confidence and clarity. This is just one more way we're committed to being a true partner in your success.

Are travel, hotel, and meal expenses included in the gig budget?

No. The listed budget is the speaking fee only. Travel, lodging, and meal expenses are negotiated separately and directly with the event planner after Salem Speakers makes the introduction.

How do I update my speaker profile (bio, photos, video reel)?

Log in to your Salem Speakers dashboard and update your profile directly. Keep your bio, headshot, speaker reel, and topic tags current — this is what event planners see when you are shortlisted.
