Dr. Jim Siebert is a two-time Emmy Award winning broadcast meteorologist who has been forecasting for television stations from Texas to Nevada for more than 30 years. He spent most of his career as the Chief Meteorologist for FOX News in Houston, Texas where he forecasted some of the worst disasters in United States history including Hurricanes Harvey, Katrina and Ike. It was after Hurricane Harvey when he started speaking to audiences on how to apply lessons learned from preparing for natural disasters to business and life disasters. He calls it Emergency Management for Life. His keynote centers on four core Risk Mitigation Stages – Recognize, Initiate Change, Scale the Change and Know What’s Next. It enables companies and people to take the right actions turning panic into power when facing adversity and be prepared to weather the risk!
Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Brigham Young University, master’s degree in meteorology and earth science from Baylor University, and a Ph.D. in instructional technologies in science education from the University of New Mexico. Jim is a co-founder of a technology company in Houston, Texas and holds two United States patents using lightning data for natural resource exploration including oil, natural gas, gold and more. Jim has been a college professor for 20 years teaching meteorology, geology, and environmental science. He has published several articles in national journals and magazines on the relationships between weather and energy markets. Jim is also a national guest lecturer speaking at conferences on risk management, emergency preparedness and creating positive corporate change.
