About Jose Quezada

Dr. José Quezada grew up in New York City on food stamps and government assistance — and went on to serve 22 years as a United States Marine Corps officer, lead Marines in war, retire as a Captain, earn a Doctorate in Leadership and Innovation, and stand on stages across the country teaching the next generation that the circumstances of their beginning are not the boundaries of their becoming.

His story is the message. It is also the reason students listen.

A former college professor and longtime ROTC and JROTC instructor running the #1 program in his region, Dr. Quezada has personally taught, trained, and mentored thousands of students, cadets, and service members — and he knows exactly how to reach the teenager sitting in the back row with their arms crossed. He holds master’s degrees in Business Management, Public Agency Leadership, Political Science, and International Relations with a focus on negotiation, mediation, and peace-building, giving him a 360-degree view of how real leaders are forged, tested, and trusted. He is also a Latin American expert, having worked as a Foreign Area Officer representing America’s interests in the region.

But for Dr. Quezada, the work does not end when he steps off the stage. As President and CEO of Quezada Family Charities, he leads a non-profit dedicated to providing scholarships for impoverished children, feeding over one hundred families every Christmas, and putting toys in the hands of hundreds of children who might not otherwise have them. Over the last several years, his students have earned tens of millions of dollars in academic and military scholarships — money redirected from circumstance to possibility, one student at a time. His mission is not simply to inspire. It is to interrupt the perpetual cycle of poverty that keeps potential locked behind a zip code, and to give the next generation the tools, the belief, and the language to lead from wherever they are standing.
